Professional Activities and Research Interest
S. Tumiati developed the first laboratory in Italy devoted to the analysis of experimental fluids synthesized at high-pressure conditions in the Experimental Petrology Laboratory of the Department of Earth Sciences (University "Statale" of Milan).
Research projects mainly focus on:
-Experimental fluids, hydrous phases, graphite and carbonates at high pressure and thermodynamic modelling at subduction conditions.
-Solubility of minerals in high pressure carbon-bearing fluids.
- Petrology of natural systems at high pressure (Western, Central and Eastern Alps), geochronology and geothermobarometry.
- Geological mapping in the frame of the CARG project (new geologic map of Italy at 1:50.000, http://www.apat.gov.it)
